In an exclusive interview with Excelsior, Atal Dulloo, the newly appointed Chief Secretary of J&K UT, outlined the government’s commitment to filling 4000 vacant posts across various departments by the end of March this year.
Highlighting transparency in the recruitment process, Dulloo assured that efforts are underway to streamline the selection of candidates for government services.
Dulloo highlighted the government’s rigorous approach against anti-national and anti-social elements, alongside a crackdown on corrupt officials. The administration aims to meet public expectations by addressing manpower shortages in offices through intensified recruitment processes.
The Chief Secretary assured that the government is working on creating a mechanism to digitalize the grievance redressal process, ensuring effective and satisfactory resolution.
Responding to concerns about delays in the Public Service Commission’s functioning, Dulloo stated that the vacant Chairman position will be filled promptly.
Addressing various issues, including the implementation of transfer policies, pending bills, and recruitment for key positions like the Principal of Government Ayurvedic College Jammu, Dulloo outlined ongoing efforts and mechanisms being devised to eliminate ad-hocism.
Dulloo also shed light on the comprehensive industrial package sanctioned for the UT’s development, emphasizing plans to bring offbeat areas under the tourist map.
He highlighted initiatives for employment generation, support for micro and medium entrepreneurs, and the implementation of government schemes.
In the realm of hydroelectric power projects, Dulloo stated that three out of four mega projects in erstwhile Doda district will be commissioned by 2026, contributing significantly to UT’s power generation.
He assured efforts to address doctor shortages in medical colleges and emphasized the importance of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra for public outreach.
The Chief Secretary discussed ongoing digitalization efforts in revenue records, strengthening the Back to Village program, and reforms in the agricultural sector. He warned empanelled hospitals to accept Ayushman Bharat Cards and addressed concerns about road accidents in hilly areas, assuring strict enforcement of traffic rules and infrastructure development.
As the government focuses on holistic development and public outreach, Dulloo emphasized the continuous efforts to address grievances, promote transparency, and implement welfare schemes throughout the UT.
